“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” –2 Corinthians 4:5
Legacy Baptist Church has yet to call its first pastor, and is presently led by Michael Grismore who is serving as the church-planter for this new ministry. Michael served as an assistant pastor and then a church-planter in Minnesota over the space of 18 years. This is now the third church-plant in which he has been involved, and the second in which he has undertaken the lead role in organization and ministry.
Mike and his wife, Laurie, moved their family of 12 to McClelland, Iowa, in 2015…nearly in view of the city of Omaha (Mike’s childhood home). Almost immediately, the family began to pray about the possibility of helping to start another Baptist church…and Oakland became the focal point of those prayers.
The intention is to seed the area, organize the church, and discover the man whom God has called to be the pastor for this work. Michael fully expects to step aside at that point and become a supportive and dedicated servant within the church body. He trusts that many others might experience the excitement and joys of taking part in this growing season of a new church.
