Over the years, this song has become one of my favorites! It is packed full of truth that is a reminder of the hope the believer has in Christ even through the darkest of trials. This song was written by Ron Hamilton after he lost his eye in a battle with cancer. This song of hope was born out of his trial and is a reminder of God’s faithfulness and sovereignty even through the midst of difficult times.
The Bible reminds us that God always has a purpose and plan in the trials of His children and that He uses them to refine our faith. We can always lean on Him even in the darkest times! Glory to God!
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:2–4
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” 1 Peter 1:7
Rejoice in the Lord
Written By: Ron Hamilton
Verse 1
God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man.
Give thanks to the Lord though your testing seems long;
In darkness He giveth a song.
Chorus
O rejoice in the Lord
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.
Verse 2
I could not see through the shadows ahead;
So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead.
I bowed to the will of the Master that day;
Then peace came and tears fled away.
Chorus
O rejoice in the Lord
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.
Verse 3
Now I can see testing comes from above;
God strengthens His children and purges in love.
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care;
Through purging more fruit I will bear.
Chorus
O rejoice in the Lord
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.
